Hi folks, you are probably wondering who this i84 guy is, right? Well, let me shed some light on your cluelessness! My name is Falk-Henning Schaaf, I am a German and currently studying Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. How did I end up studying in the Philippines? Well, this is a tough question and probably needs way more time to explain than we have right now. Let's therefore focus on my little hobby :-).

I started with photography roughly in 2001 with a nice Olympus C3040Z digital camera. I loved this little piece of equipment and took close to 7000 pictures with it. At the end of 2005 the Olympus seemed to have reached the end of its life cycle. Picture quality literally deteriorated and taking nice pictures became a daunting task. For Christmas 2005 I was fortunate enough to be able to upgrade to a Nikon D50 digital SLR camera. To summarize in one sentence my experiences with this camera: A wonderful sweet piece of equipment :-)))! Most pictures found on this website are probably taken with it. A good review of the D50 can be found at dpreview.com or at KenRockwell.com .

Initially I only took pictures and did not digitally enhance them. The book that changed all this is called "Landscape Photography: A guide to taking better pictures" by Peter Eastway. This is probably one of the best books about modern photography ever! I can highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in photography :-).

Currently I am using the following three lenses:
  • Tamron 18-200mm f3.5-6.3
  • Tamron 200-500mm f5-6.3
  • Tamron 90mm f2.8 Macro 1:1
(The last being my favorite as I write this introduction)

This website features a FAQ page where hopefully many of your questions & concerns are being addressed. If nevertheless you should still have a question about what I am doing, feel free to contact me via the web form found on the contact page. The guestbook can also be used as a means to leave a message and I highly appreciate any positive remarks (negative remarks are also appreciated if they can help improve the pictures).

Very truly yours,
Falk-Henning Schaaf
